Connecting
Hit connect and pick a wallet: a browser extension (MetaMask, Rabby, and similar), a mobile wallet over WalletConnect, or an email login if this DEX has one enabled. There’s no separate account to create, your wallet address is your account, and if you’ve traded on Hyperliquid before with that address, your balance, positions and history are already there.
One-time setup
The first time you connect, you’ll sign two things:
- A trading key approval. This creates a key held by your browser that signs your orders locally, so you get one wallet popup up front instead of one per order. It’s scoped to this site and disposable, revoke or replace it any time from the setup step without touching keys you’ve approved elsewhere on Hyperliquid.
- A builder fee approval. This sets the maximum fee rate this DEX can charge you per fill.
Both need your wallet to have deposited to Hyperliquid at least once. A brand-new wallet with no deposit will fail this step, fund the account first. See Fees for what the builder fee approval covers.
Staying signed in
By default the trading key lives in memory for the tab and is gone on reload. Two settings change that:
- Persist Trading Connection keeps it in your browser’s local storage so a reload doesn’t ask you to re-approve.
- Biometric unlock (where your device and browser support it) encrypts the key at rest behind Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint. Restoring a session then takes one biometric prompt instead of a wallet round-trip, and the key is never stored in plain text.
Neither setting extends what the key can do. Its authority is still whatever you approved on Hyperliquid, and you can revoke it there at any time.
